The 40th Vetmaster Advanced Specialized Course on Small Animal Hip Replacement has successfully concluded in Guangzhou. Frontline veterinary clinicians from across the country gathered in Yangcheng to complete systematic, high-standard specialized training in hip replacement techniques. After several days of intensive lectures and hands-on practical training, this round of advanced professional study has come to a successful end.

The course is taught by Dr. Wu Zhongheng and Teacher Xu Dongxing, both senior lecturers. During the theoretical teaching session, the instructors draw on years of clinical surgical experience to break down core challenges one by one, including detailed hip joint anatomy, precise preoperative imaging assessment, individualized surgical plan design, accurate selection of prosthesis models, key surgical approaches and intraoperative operational essentials. Meanwhile, they analyze the causes of common clinical complications and elaborate on their prevention and management strategies, helping participants develop a comprehensive, standardized and rigorous surgical thinking framework and overcome misconceptions in clinical diagnosis and treatment.

In addition to theoretical lectures, the training incorporates specimen hands-on practice, surgical demonstrations and one-on-one guidance. Focusing on real clinical pain points, it breaks down complex surgical key points into actionable steps. Trainees refine their skills through hands-on operations, with tutors providing follow-up comments throughout the process. This helps participants quickly consolidate their operational foundations, master standardized surgical procedures proficiently, and ensures every attending veterinarian fully grasps the technical essentials.

Since the launch of the course, the Vetmaster Hip Replacement Course has continuously delivered standardized small animal joint surgery techniques, cultivating a large number of veterinarians in the pet industry capable of independently performing hip replacement surgeries. The 40th session marks a milestone as well as a new starting point. Going forward, Vetmaster will keep refining the curriculum, updating technologies, and advancing the standard of small animal orthopedic diagnosis and treatment in China, enabling more small animals suffering from hip dysplasia and traumatic pain to regain the ability to walk.
